London’s cleanup is still underway, and we’re looking to the future: to London’s rebuild. Many businesses have had the help of London’s local communities as they cleaned up glass, repainted smoke damaged walls and removed debris, but many others are still struggling to clean up enough to rebuild their livelihood.
Broken shops can’t take customers, especially if the stock has been stolen and the owner can’t afford to replenish until the insurance pays out.
While Boris Johnson has promised a £20m injection of funding to Croydon and Tottenham to help their communities rebuild, the pain doesn’t stop. Individuals still need to get their businesses in order and open their doors to the public in order to earn a living again.
People like Aaron Biber, who at 89 has been cutting hair at his Tottenham shop for more than 40 years, saw his windows smashed and petty items stolen. To help his clean-up, a group of local youngsters helped raise £25k. Not everyone has guardian angels dropping massive amounts of money on them to help clean up and make a new start.
There’s no denying the money will help do the refurbishments needed, but when you have builders marching around your place of work, you might not feel like you have your livelihood back. And it’s not likely that you’ll be able to open up to customers again because of the mess.
But there is an option. Builders can be remarkably tidy creatures, and, with a builders’ clean-up crew to hand, you could realistically consider opening your business up for customers while the builders do the repairs and rebuilding that’s needed. To keep dust at bay, builders will section off the area they’re working on with plastic sheeting, but dust can still escape.
A builders clean-up team will go in after each day and clean the place of dust and clean the floors of any building fallout. All surfaces will be wiped down and windows cleaned, so, to the outside world, your business is back on its feet, and, more importantly, it’s earning your living again.
When the rebuilding is finished, builders clean-up crew will do a deep clean. Pulling the protective sheeting down is likely to launch dust all over the place, so your clean-up crew will clean every surface, wiping and cleaning from the back of your business forward to the front door, so that when they finish your business will look better than before – rebuilt, clean, and ready to take customers that will keep your business going for many more years.
